Chapter 1: Sister ^^
At three in the morning, a short-haired girl in soft loungewear sat curled up in a chair, thinking for a long time before she finally typed the last period in her document.
After checking it three times, Su Mi pressed save, opened the chat interface, and sent it.
Breathing out a sigh, Su Mi frowns slightly as she typed in the chat box: Secretary Ye, this is the speech draft for tomorrow’s meeting, please review…
Just as she is about to hit ‘send,’ a sudden pain strikes her chest.
Su Mi loses consciousness.
…
Unconscious for an unknown amount of time, it feels like Su Mi’s awareness weakens, almost dissipating.
Suddenly, a suction force pulls at her consciousness.
“…!”
In an instant, it feels like she’s being sucked into an endless vortex. Struggling through dizziness and confusion, Su Mi gasps for fresh air.
Only then does she realize she’s in a completely different environment.
This appears to be a private break room in an office, with common leather sofas, a coffee table with plants and a bottle of water, and a somewhat fresh scent in the air.
She’s covered with a thin blanket, half-reclining on the sofa.
Looking up, there was a large dark tea-colored glass directly opposite the sofa. Through the reflection in the glass, she could see a young girl with shoulder-length light blonde hair sitting on the sofa, staring at the reflective glass with round eyes.
Su Mi reached out to grab her hair, the light blonde hair was slightly curled at the ends, soft in texture, and the girl in the mirror was also unnaturally grabbing her somewhat messy hair.
Her appearance was similar to her younger self, and she was wearing a delicate dress she wouldn’t normally choose.
Recalling the chest pain and the earlier suction and dizziness, Su Mi wonders… did she die and come back to life?
“Exactly^^”
A strange voice echoes in her mind, accompanied by a pink pixel text pop-up in her vision.
“Hello, host Su Mi. I am System 622, responsible for guiding you through this book transmigration task. Now transmitting the main storyline of this small book world to you~”
Su Mi feels a bad premonition: “Wait…”
Before she finishes, a tidal wave of information floods her mind, almost knocking her out with its intensity, transforming into something akin to memories.
It’s a typical ABO romance novel where the male and female leads meet in school, go through a series of breakups and reunions, heroic rescues, and dramatic plotlines, ultimately marrying after graduation.
—If not for the villain.
The book’s main villain is a female Alpha, the young and sole ruler of the Shen family, the most powerful clan in the first city.
In the original, she is melancholic, possesses rare SS-level mental strength, but due to an unknown “heart disease,” only the heroine can ease her suffering.
The book doesn’t go into specifics but vaguely mentions that the villain takes the heroine to her place for “treatment” every week. The focus is on the heroine’s feelings of rejection and desire for independence from this wealthy, powerful force.
Su Mi’s current identity is that of one of the villain’s sidekicks.
The original Su Mi’s mother had ties with the villain’s mother, so even after the villain’s mother passed away, the villain took good care of Su Mi’s family, providing support to her parents’ company and recognizing Su Mi as a god-sister, often keeping her close.
Although Su Mi acted obedient in front of the villain, she was actually vain and opportunistic.
Jealous of the increasing favor the villain showed the heroine, Su Mi secretly tried to sabotage the heroine while inadvertently aiding the romance between the male and female leads.
Halfway through the novel, the original Su Mi’s actions were finally discovered by the villain, leading to her abandonment.
Her parents’ company lost the villain’s support, quickly besieged by competitors, ultimately leading to bankruptcy.
The story was supposed to continue with the male and female leads overcoming the villain’s obstacles and achieving their happy ending.
However, when the villain caught the male and female leads kissing, she suddenly snapped.
Her mental strength went out of control, capturing the leads and trying to elevate her mental power but failing, resulting in the destruction of the leads, herself, and the small world.
System: “Each small world has its own consciousness, maintaining the storyline and ensuring major plot points stay on track. However, the villain’s darkening is beyond the world consciousness’s control. No matter how many times the small world resets, the villain’s darkening leads to its destruction. Therefore, we need external assistance to resolve the villain’s darkening. According to the world consciousness, the villain’s darkening value must be below 50 when the leads confirm their relationship; otherwise, the villain’s mental strength will go out of control, causing the world’s destruction.”
Su Mi processed this convoluted plot and the original Su Mi’s role in it, feeling complicated.
Su Mi: “So I…”
System: “:) Yes, your original body has lost its life functions. We detected your consciousness matched well with this character, so we absorbed your fading consciousness and placed it into this role. You need to complete the task of reducing the villain’s darkening value.”
System: “During the task, you can always check the villain’s darkening value in the upper right corner.”
Su Mi glanced up and saw a glaring 90% in black and red.
System: “During the task, please ensure the deviation of the cannon fodder’s character setting does not exceed 30%. We have provided you with an OOC protection filter. Deviations below 30% will not be detected by the original inhabitants. However, deviations above 30% will result in penalties. The filter will enhance as you integrate into this small world and complete tasks. Once you successfully complete the task, the filter will reach 100%, allowing you to live freely as Su Mi in this world.”
Su Mi: “What if I fail?”
System: “Unfortunately, your consciousness energy is insufficient to support a second absorption and attachment.”
The message was clear: failure meant death along with this world.
Su Mi didn’t hesitate, lowered her gaze, and said, “Deal.”
She rubbed her temples and had just lifted the thin blanket covering her when the door to the rest room opened.
In came a tall, elegant man around thirty years old, wearing a well-fitted suit and frameless glasses, walking briskly. His hair, like Su Mi’s, was slightly curly and light gold.
Su Mi realized this was the original Su Mi’s father.
“Yaya, the secretary said you fainted.” He called her by her nickname, and seeing Su Mi sitting on the sofa, he breathed a sigh of relief.
He pinched Su Mi’s ear in frustration and said, “You and your mother discussed this, right? That Shen Han is an Alpha, and there’s a difference between A and O. You finally got recognized as her god-sister, but as an Omega, it’s not convenient to visit her often. Your mother is so clueless. How could she allow this? Doesn’t she know how inconvenient it is for us Omegas? This is serious!”
Su Mi wanted to break free, but she stiffly endured the ear pinching.
Fortunately, Wen Zisu soon let go.
This reminded her of the backstory.
The original Su Mi had decided to pretend to be a Beta to better cling to the villain’s golden thigh.
After all, Shen Han was a SS-level Alpha, and aside from the heroine, she didn’t get close to any Omegas.
The original Su Mi had decided, along with her parents, to disguise her differentiation results as Beta due to fear of being considered inappropriate by Shen Han because of the A and O difference.
Recalling the description in the original text about the family’s business being surrounded by competitors and going bankrupt after losing the villain’s support…
She honestly replied, “Our family’s business relies on… sister.”
Wen Zisu clearly understood this as well.
However, he thought it unnecessary for his just-adult daughter to handle these matters.
He sighed, glanced at Su Mi’s nape again, and ensured the special barrier sticker was properly in place. The sticker was very discreet; unless someone intentionally looked for its edges, they would assume it was just skin.
“Now that the materials have been submitted, it’s too late to change back to Omega. Just remember the Omega precautions I’ve told you. Did you bring enough barrier stickers for this outing?”
Su Mi: What Omega precautions? Barrier stickers?
As someone new to the modern ABO world, she was momentarily confused.
Following the system’s prompt, she opened the delicate small bag beside the sofa and showed it to Wen Zisu.
Barrier stickers, inhibitors, emergency spray… everything was prepared.
Wen Zisu checked each item before nodding in satisfaction.
“I just finished a meeting and have more things to do. I can’t stay with you,” Wen Zisu said, looking at his wrist communicator, which was flashing with new messages. “If you need anything, ask the secretary. Xiao Yi is playing in my office; you can keep him company if you feel better.”
“Okay,” Su Mi agreed.
After Wen Zisu left the rest room, Su Mi curiously inspected the wrist communicator.
Her world before transmigrating wasn’t this advanced. It was amazing how it could project screens into the air.
Su Mi found the communication app, LightSpeed.
The original Su Mi seemed to have a good reputation, with hundreds of unread messages, the red dot flashing conspicuously in the lower-left corner.
Su Mi frowned at the sight.
There was only one person pinned at the top, marked boldly as “Shen Han,” with a profile picture of an ink-painted black crane, giving it an artistic feel.
This must be the villain Shen Han.
Opening the chat, there weren’t many messages between them.
Most were initiated by the original Su Mi, asking, “Sister, are you free today?” “Sister, my father made some new pastries. Can I bring them to you this weekend?” “Sister, I’ll bring Nanqiao over tomorrow, okay?”
The villain’s replies were usually brief, except when it involved Nanqiao, where she would say a bit more.
Su Mi concluded that the villain indeed only had some interest in Xu Nanqiao—the heroine.
Their last conversation was the original Su Mi informing Shen Han about her differentiation period.
Shen Han’s response was a lone “okay.”
Perhaps LightSpeed had an online notification, as Shen Han’s chat window suddenly popped up with two words: “Are you there?”
Su Mi hesitated for a moment before replying in the original’s tone: “Sister, I’m here ^^.”
System: “Host, you stole my emoji QAQ.”
Su Mi: “…”
Shen Han’s chat box showed typing symbols flashing. Soon, a call came through.
Su Mi answered the call.
Clearing her throat, Su Mi waited, hoping for memory fragments to appear, but they didn’t.
Uncertain how the original Su Mi conversed with Shen Han, she guessed it would be similar to the texts…
Su Mi tried to make her voice sweet and obedient, “Sister, did you need something?”
There was sudden silence on the other end.
After a moment, just when Su Mi wondered if she had said something wrong, the other end spoke. A slightly hoarse, cold female voice asked, “Are you sure your differentiation period is over?”
T/N: I will be using the author’s original format for speaking at times (i.e. Character Name: “Words.”) if this doesn’t seem good, please let me know so I can change it. Also, please let me know if the font size is too small/big or if the formatting has any issues so I can change them.
